Acupuncture

Does it work?

There are many theories about how acupuncture works. Tradition says it is based on the theory of Qi and its movement throughout the body. Qi is an essential substance that nourishes and provides structure and function to the body. Some people have translated it as energy. It is said to flow through specific channels and is accessible through certain points along those channels. The insertion of acupuncture needles at these points adjusts the flow of Qi in the body. Acupuncture thus restores the harmonious balance of the body and the free flow of Qi to its various parts. For example, if the Qi is deficient in an area then acupuncture directs the Qi there and restores balance. If the Qi is in excess, acupuncture drains it from the area. Pain is thought of as an obstruction to the flow of Qi. When flow is restored, the pain is alleviated. Call Milard to schedule an appointment.
